A Million Dreams and Counting: The Junior Leagues of Georgia Million Minute Read

The Junior League of DeKalb County in partnership with the other eleven Junior Leagues of Georgia and Bright from the Start have launched a new initiative called "The Million Minute Read" to promote literacy in Georgia and to celebrate the millionth child enrolling in Georgia Pre-K. Junior League members from across the state will read to children (age birth to elementary school) at daycares, schools, hospitals, places of worship and other locations and log their minutes to track the number of minutes read and the number of children that were read to as part of the campaign. As a highlight to this year long initiative, the Junior Leagues of Georgia will focus these efforts during the week of February 22, 2010 as part of 'The Junior Leagues of Georgia Million Minute Read Week'. The Junior Leagues of Georgia include Leagues from Albany, Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, Cobb-Marietta, Columbus, DeKalb County, Douglas County, Gainesville-Hall County, Gwinnett-N. Fulton Counties, Macon and Savannah.  Junior League members should please click here to record the minutes you read to Georgia's children this year.
