International Women's House

The International Women's House (IWH) is the only shelter in the nation to serve battered women and children of all nationalities, supported by a multi-cultural, multi-lingual staff. In 1995, JLD in collaboration with a coalition of refugee and mainstream social service providers, founded IWH.

In 1999, with the full support and encouragement of the League, IWH became autonomous and attained its own 501(c)3 status. JLD remains actively involved in IWH via volunteer shifts, the IWH Committee and several actives and sustainers serve on IWH's Board and Capital Campaign committees.

IWH's Mission Is:
· To provide services to immigrant and refugee women and their children who have survived domestic violence.
· To support the breaking of the cycle of domestic violence through education and empowerment.
· To increase awareness of domestic violence in immigrant and refugee communities.
· To serve as a resource for mainstream shelters which provide services to culturally-diverse populations who are victims of domestic violence.

International Women's House serves primarily immigrant and refugee women and their children who have survived domestic violence. The shelter does not discriminate in its acceptance policies.
